Where to place mouse and rat traps?

Mice have been a problem since day one. It isn’t that they are a threat of any kind but they have a habit of running stuff. Where ever they go, they tend to eat away the stuff or create chaos. Plus they wonder everywhere, from the cleanest places to the dirtiest places in any city where they are to be found. Now to get rid of them or to scare them away, there are mouse traps. These mouse traps can be of different varieties. These varieties include simple mouse traps that can be found in every household to industrial level traps that are found in almost every hotel and company. See people get this wrong that one trap is more than enough to get the job done, they also get this wrong that placing the trap anywhere would work and the mouse trap placed would be successful. The same people complain and cry when their mouse traps don’t work. The main thing isn’t to just buy mouse traps and place them anywhere you like, the main thing is to place these traps at the right place and at the right time. So where to place mouse and rat traps?

Where to put mouse and rat traps?

The main part when it comes to placing traps is finding out where to place the mouse and rat traps. I’ll share with you some essential tips and tricks to place mouse traps that would work indefinitely at all times and in almost all places.

  • Study the mice/rat movement

You need to carefully examine where the mouse does most of its activity. Be it in the kitchen or in any living room. See mice tend to wander in different places in different orders. One time they will be in one place, the other time, they would be in another place. But if you study their movement closely, you would find a place where they would always visit, no matter what. That is ground zero for placing you mouse trap. Where ever else the mouse might go, the place it visits the most is where you need to put you mouse trap.

When placing mouse traps, make sure to place the mouse trap 2 to 10 feet away from the area that you have chosen to place the mouse trap in. If mice are in the basement than you can place your traps near the walls especially at the corners of the walls. Now if they are outside in your porch or patio, you can place these mouse traps around the walls of your patio and they would work just fine.

  • Not keeping a check on traps

These small common snap or glue traps require a lot of checking. They are useful and simple but they require attention. You need to check on them frequently to ensure that they are working at their optimum level. These snap traps need to reset after every 24 hours. If they aren’t check on than they tend to get loose. Plus if you don’t check up on them, they become so loose and unstable that mice come and take the bait out of the trap and go on their way.

Is placing mouse traps at the right place enough to get the job done?

Well placing mouse traps at the right place has about the most importance but they need some more precautions with them as well. Below are some of the things you also need to do to ensure that your traps would work every time.

  • Use more traps

People think that placing one trap is more than enough and it will get the job done easily. But that isn’t the case. You need to place more than one trap. Mice are smart creatures and they can sense anything suspicious in the environment. Mice can foresee a trap and can divert from it easily but placing more traps changes the dynamics completely and the probability of the traps working increases dramatically.

  • Use the proper bait

The best food to put on mouse traps is:

  1. Cheese
  2. Peanut Butter
  3. Marshmallows
  4. Gumdrops
  5. Don’t ruin the bait

Another common mistake is that while putting the bait, people place the bait with their own bare hands. That completely ruins the bait and mice are smart enough to even sense that. Always use gloves while placing the bait so that the bait is free from any contaminants that can ruin the bait.

  1. Common things to consider

Once the trap has worked, and the mouse has been caught, please handle the trap with care and precision. Always use gloves while disposing the trap. Small common traps can be used once at a time and they shouldn’t be used more than once for safety purposes.

Final Verdict:

So we got to know where to place mouse traps and where to put mouse traps as well. We also learned about how to place those traps and the best places to put mouse and rat traps. Although these are simple techniques and super easy to implement, they do require a bit of attention and supervision. But this is for certain that these traps will never work if you don’t follow them.
